‎In much of Europe, the 1940s were - design-wise - still influenced by the aesthetics of the previous decades and mixed earlier influences with the technical and visual innovations of mid-century modernism. In consequence, this set has the best visual qualities of both eras, with traditional materials, craftsmanship, and a modern, architectural look.

Visually, the pieces of this set have an essentially simple structure that assumes some knowledge of architecture on the designer’s part. This wouldn’t be unusual, as most Danish mid-century designers were also trained architects. Using simple but well-though out lines, this chair was designed to be minimalistic, yet aesthetically distinct. The outlines get wider and thinner in different shapes and forms, bringing it into a dynamic balance. The curving backrest supported by the neck is the most attention grabbing feature, complemented by the round seat and round legs. Such a detail is the pair of dark screws on the chair’s back that adds to the elegant, yet raw organicity.

In good vintage condition. Wear consistent with age and use. The chair and stool have been reupholstered recently in premium sheepskin. Each of our items can be re-upholstered by our in-house atelier in a fabric of choice. Please reach out for more information.
