With a legacy spanning over seven decades, Hans-Agne Jakobsson redefined modern design by seamlessly blending form and function. His designs’ unique quality lies in effortlessly infusing Scandinavian simplicity with a touch of innovation, resulting in pieces that transcend time, like this "G-20" floor lamp.
While Jakobsson designed and produced various types of furniture, his lighting received greater international attention - and not without good reason, as this lamp showcases. The craftsmanship involved in creating this piece is evident in the seamless construction and attention to detail. This “G20” model couples brass and fabric, creating a beautiful modern look. This very rare model consists of a pleated fabric shade that is supported by a thin brass pole. The shade, which is closed at the top, difuses the light evenly and gives a beautiful subdued light that is very characteristic for the work of Hans-Agne Jakobsson. At the top of the stem, there is a signature brass ring that can be found on multiple of Jakobsson’s designs, such as on the “B99” table lamp. The heavy foot that keeps the lamp firmly in place, is made of cast iron.
This lamp is a testament to the enduring appeal of Swedish modern design and to Hans-Agne Jakobsson's lasting legacy as one of the movement's most significant contributors.

Born in 1890 in France, René Gabriel was one of the leading figures of the modernist movement in Paris. From 1923 to 1950, he presented a body of work, offering an innovative vision on the way people would live in the new century. He became widely recognised for developing practical, well-made furniture intended for the reconstruction period following the Second World War. Appointed president of the Société des Artistes Décorateurs (SAD) at the Liberation, he steered French decoration towards more economical productions, with sharp lines, efficient joinery, and a preference for the authenticity of local woods over imported species.
The daybed features a dark-stained wooden frame with clean, crisp lines that bring structure to its gentle form. Since the aesthetic is dominated by straight lines, the luxurious upholstery stays in focus, utilising the fabric’s softness to break the straight lines visually. Working against the minimal shapes and ergonomic design of streamlined mid-century European furniture, the maker of this side chair moved away from highly polished factory uniformity and toward more expressive, hand-worked forms. In smaller workshops especially, chairs like this were shaped through carving and direct craftsmanship, allowing irregular contours, visible tool marks, and natural grain variation to remain part of the final appearance rather than something to conceal.
This chair retains clearly visible traces of hand construction: uneven carving and forms shaped by the maker’s hand rather than by machinery. Pieces of this kind sit between functional furniture and sculptural woodworking, reflecting a period when natural materials and individual craftsmanship remained central to modern interiors. This piece carries visual rhythm through the relationship between the seat, legs, and backrest. The back rises from a single central support and widen into broad asymmetrical crests, the silhouette cuts with irregular contours that make it one of a kind. Instead of polished precision, the wood has a raw tactile quality, with visible grain variation, softened edges, and surfaces that reveal the carving process. The outward-angled legs create a stable stance and complete the design. Carl Auböck II was born in Vienna, Austria in 1900. After finishing the School of Graphic Design and the Academy of Fine Arts in Vienna, he attended the Bauhaus and joined a small group of artists in becoming the founding members of the now legendary school.
This pair of “Vice Versa” floor lamps reflects a fascination with sculptural simplicity and materials, while representing a unique piece of design history. The model, first thought to be created by Auböck 1952, has caused a debate within the design world decades after it was first issued. Within Denmark, the “Vice Versa” lamp was widely sold under the label of Svend Aage Holm-Sørensen, a key figure of Scandinavian design. The controversy still surrounds the model today, however what is undisputed is its beauty. Each lamp is composed of a slender black lacquered metal stem rising from a circular weighted base, creating a simple vertical silhouette. At the top sits the defining feature: a shade placed on a round metal holder. The shade can be reversed and re-positioned, allowing the direction and character of the light to shift depending on its placement. This element reflects Bauhaus functionality principles while still feeling elegant. Despite the minimal construction, the lamps have a strong sculptural presence, particularly through the balance between the thin stem and the oversized curved reflector that mirrors the conical base and ties in the design.
In 1925, Karl Heinrich Auböck passed away at the age of 53, leaving Carl II and the sculptor Mara Uckunowa, Carl’s wife, to take over operations of the Werkstätte at 23 Bernardgasse. In 1954 Carl Auböck II was awarded four gold medals at the Milan Triennale for designing a range of metalware, and pieces like this pair of lamps stand as proof of his genius.

Art Deco furniture combined luxurious materials with bold architectural forms, favouring strong silhouettes. Seating from the period often emphasised generous proportions and solid construction, creating pieces that conveyed both permanence and comfort. Club chairs became one of the movement's defining furniture types, pairing deep upholstered seats with expressive frames that reflected the era's fascination with geometry and craftsmanship.
This pair or armchairs is distinguished by their bold oak frames, the broad panelled sides form the armrests and give the chairs an imposing presence. The thick timber construction contrasts beautifully with the upholstery, creating a balance between visual weight and inviting comfort. The wood constructing the frame not only showcase a beautiful natural grain, but is also durable and resistant, sure to maintain the look and functionality for generations. Still, arguably the most striking aspect of this pair is the natural deer hide that covers the seat and back cushions. The distinctive white spotting makes each chair unique and introduces an organic counterpoint to the disciplined geometry of the frame. The warm brown tones of the hide complement the rich grain of the wood, while the exposed timber surfaces allow the quality of the wood to remain a central feature of the design, both in perfect balance. Slightly recessed plinth-style bases visually ground the chairs, which enhance the architectural character without adding unnecessary detail.
Every element is carefully designed, allowing the strong construction and exceptional materials to define the overall expression. They exemplify the Art Deco interest in honest materials and forms, offering comfortable seating while making a strong architectural statement within an interior.
