What sets Swedish Modern apart from the rest of the world is the simplicity in various parts of everyday life and culture that finds visual expression in Swedish design, the simplest and most purely practical of all the Scandinavian design styles. As this floor lamp shows, these ideals could translate into design to manifest forms that are just as stylish as functional.

This model has an unmistakable Swedish mid-century look; from the clean lines and subtle decorative elements to the intuitive functionality, this lamp is timelessly stylish. The design focuses on clean lines, minimalism, and functionality without sacrificing beauty. The base is quite robust, and like the lower part of the tube, is black which grounds the design. Contrasting to these elements are the upper half of the tube and the lampshade with a patinated metal used as the material. This duality of colours and surfaces creates a lot of textural interest, enhanced by the pattern of the shade. The ribbed lampshade is the sole clearly decorative element and shows off the heavy patina beautifully. The neck is completely adjustable, therefore the light can be focused in any direction making this a perfect task lamp. Finally, the straight part of the tube serves as a vertical bridge between the heavier looking black parts and the lighter shade. What makes this lamp so aesthetically pleasing is its lack of clutter aided by the interesting pairing of materials.

The neck is marked by the manufacturer’s sticker. With restrained playfulness, Swedish design and quality, this floor lamp is an authentic evidence of Swedish Modernism and its ideals.
