The subtle decorative qualities stemming from the early 20th century art movements give these armchairs their elegance. Designed in the early phase of what we know today as mid-century modern, this pair of chairs still show the influence of the art deco movement of the previous decades. Like in the case of art deco designs, here an emphasis is placed on bold lines and unusual forms. As they form most of the structure, this is mostly visible in the arms which stem from all the way back and reach towards the front creating a beautiful round arch. At the same time, the design has the classic profile of club chairs which first appeared as the “fauteuil confortable”, the "comfortable armchairs" as they generally have a wide sitting area and armrests with a fully upholstered body. These chairs are also proportioned larger than an average armchair, which allows the elegant upholstered bodies to stand out. The curvature creates an inviting and open look, enhanced by the dark, petrol coloured upholstery that is very precisely fitted and accentuates the flowing lines. The long horizontal wood legs add an extra point of visual interest and keep the design grounded and the warm brown colour nicely contrasts to the colour of the bodies.
