Subtle ‘brutal looking’ highboard by master furniture maker Franz Meyer, Northern Germany, mid 60’s.

This cabinet has long been attributed to Antoine Philippon and Jacqueline Lecoq. Especially the diamond shaped doors bear a great resemblance to their work. However there are also some notable differences, like the absence of a thin iron base and the multiple diamond shapes in this work, so we've always had some doubt about this. Finally we found a low board by Franz Meyer Möbler that looks identical to this beautiful work and the puzzle was solved.

The craftsmanship of this piece is truly a pleasure. From northern Germany, 1960's.
