A Pair of Brazilian Iron Armchairs, Brazil 1950s (sold)

A Pair of Brazilian Iron Armchairs, Brazil 1950s (sold)

$0.00

This imposing pair of Brazilian armchairs in iron and fabric is a visually stunning representation of Brazilian Modern design. The well thought out minimalism of these armchairs is honest, elegant and comfortable.

The pair is defined by geometric lines that contrast with the softness of the seat, arm- and backrest. All of the structural elements are indispensable for its stability and are arranged with geometric rigour. Elegance and strength are cleverly combined in this minimalist sculptural piece. The continuity of the structural lines “sketches the space aerially”.

The one of a kind upholstery has been recently done in a premium black and white fabric by the world famous French atelier, Toyine Sellers. Toyine Sellers is the heart and creative mind behind this artistic textile atelier, creating exquisite materials that soften environments. The textile used for these chairs is a work of art in itself.

Works by Brazil’s mid-century greats, such as Oscar Niemeyer, Sergio Rodrigues, Joaquim Tenreiro and Lina Bo Bardi, have long been pursued by museum curators and specialist collectors. This pair displays many of the qualities why Brazilian mid-century design continues to intrigue and impress. ~H.
