Danish Cabinetmaker Pair of Easy Chairs, Denmark 1960s (sold)

Danish Cabinetmaker Pair of Easy Chairs, Denmark 1960s (sold)

$0.00

This pair of Danish-made easy chairs is characterised by the best qualities of Danish mid-century design. From the restrained aesthetic to the elegant pairing of materials, these chairs are the perfect examples of how pairing Danish design, the work of a cabinetmaker, and luxurious upholstery create exceptional pieces.

These chairs feature beautifully patinated, stained beech legs. The rounded shape of the voluminous arm- and backrests is a signature characteristic of Danish Modernism. The backs are lightly bent and the back legs are slightly tapered to create the “welcoming” look. The Danish design idiom was centred on warm woods, quality fabrics and gentle yet robust support for the spine - qualities that engender contentment and well-being, a defining characteristic of Danish culture.

The chairs are marginally differing in size, making them a “his and hers” pair.  The upholstery is one of a kind. This pair has recently been reupholstered in a premium, robust medley of wool and linen fabric with a soft touch. ~H.
