Scandinavian Cabinetmaker Lounge Chair, Scandinavia 1940s (sold)

$0.00

This lounge chair is an elegant and comfortable evidence of the mastery and artistry of the Scandinavian cabinetmakers who defined mid-20th century modern seating. This model is of the highest quality, both in terms of materials and craftsmanship.

Scandinavian furniture from the mid-20th century revolutionised the history of what we consider modern design today. Scandinavian chairs in particular have become unrivalled references in it. Cabinetmaker lounge chairs may seem similar at first sight, however each model’s individuality becomes evident upon closer inspection. In this lounge chair’s case, its sheer volume and the unique front legs stand out immediately. Its inventiveness bears witness to the synthesis that this chair has achieved between form and function, in which aesthetics and utility come together in a purely Scandinavian manner. The fully upholstered wooden frame rests on dark-stained wood legs. Low feet support the chair in the back and a central stand in the front, which is very characteristic, defining the whole look of this model. From the front and sides, the beautiful line tracing is visible, outlining the armrests that flow into the back.

The exceptionally soft, premium alpaca wool blend fabric highlights the frame’s rounded edges and makes this lounge chair ideal to blend a stroke of modernity to any space, with a nod to comfort and simple artistry from the north.
