This rare floor lamp model possesses one of the most recognizable and unique designs in the prestigious repertoire of Falkenbergs Belysning’s 20th century lighting models’ catalogue. Its signature appearance is based on the circular base and the open shade.
Lithe, charismatic and distinctly modern, this lamp demonstrates Swedish mid-century designers’ keen eye for and mastery of quiet drama. Easy to incorporate into any space with its graceful, slender shape, this floor lamp boasts a split, black lacquered lamp rod on a ring shaped base. The whole body leans forward resulting in a dynamic impression. Additionally, the lampshade can be adjusted in its direction by the metal stick, allowing the light to be focused. The elongated shade has a distinctive curved design that is open in the bottom, showing off the warm light. The black exterior and a white interior of the shade is designed to better reflect light. To balance the light, paper-like look, the socket is more robust, made entirely of brass. The brass accents bring the colour scheme into mid-century modernism, while leaving the main role to the black lower structure and the shade. This lamp has many qualities that make it an ideal accent lamp, serving both a functional and a purely aesthetic role.
The Swedish company, Falkenbergs Belysning was an excellent manufacturer of various lighting designs, with some models exhibited in museums to this day. Kalmar Läns Museum is among the Swedish institutions where the manufacturer’s lamps and their history is exhibited as part of the country’s cultural design heritage.
