Hans-Agne Jakobsson (1919-2009), a Swedish interior and furniture designer, was known for his glare-free lighting fixtures inspired by the idea of “Organic Modern” of Poul Henningsen and Alvar Aalto. Jakobsson was one of the great Swedish masters of lighting, designing some of the most recognizable mid-century modern lamps of Scandinavia. This ‘Patricia’ chandelier is a timeless example of his excellence.

This marvellous brass ceiling lamp was created in what we now call “the Golden Age of Scandinavian design”. Known as the ‘T372/6’ or ‘Patricia’ model, this six-shade fixture is immediately recognizable thanks to its characteristic features. Standing out the most are the amber-coloured glass shades that are equally mesmerizing whether the light is on or off. Similarly to his other chandelier models, the lamp clearly shows the Swedish designer’s studies in architecture - with beautiful geometric forms and symmetry dominating the structure. The polished brass structure is held by a single slender brass stem; attached to the main stem are symmetrically arranged curved arms with a shade on each end. The glass shades are arranged in close proximity to each other and as a result the chandelier seems to “glow” when lit, creating a dazzling effect. As a talented designer who experimented with brass, iron, glass, fabric and wood shavings, Jakobsson learned how to master direction and colour of light like only few people did. In choosing his materials, construction and design, he arranged it so that glaring bulbs and irritating decorations disappear. His designs unite practicality and a sense of well being.

This model has all the characteristics Jakobsson was famous for: it is elegant and stylish, and while the design allows it to be grand and shiny, it never appears tacky. Jakobsson was famed for his imaginative light fixtures that create soft, quality light. With a background in cabinetmaking and the world of architecture, shaping light with the use of materials and colours came naturally to him. This lamp creates an ambience that is cosy and stylish, while not compromising on quality and functionality.‎
