Swedish lighting manufacturer Luxus gave form to some of the now-iconic models that define the “Swedish mid-century style”. Luxus was founded by Uno Kristiansson circa 1950, in the city of Vittsjö. Their works favoured the use of teak, but did not shy away from using glass, leather, plastic and acrylic.
This pair of table lamps is a lovely example of Scandinavian mid-century design. By combining quality materials with modern craftsmanship ideals, these pieces show the elegance found in the simplicity of Scandinavian style. Without any added ornamentation, the focus is on the sleek, shiny body of the lamp. Made out of coloured glass, the lamps have a rich, amber colour. The beautiful shades are enhanced even more when the lamps are switched on, having almost a brass-like appearance. The body of the lamps is cylindrical and tapers out to form the base, slightly increasing in size and ensuring proper stability, which falls in line with the Scandinavian Modern pursuit of functionality. The lamp is capped off with a Texolux acrylic glass attachment, which joins the light bulb to the body. The look is perfectly completed by the white fabric shades, which contrast against the warm tones of the lamps’ bodies.
This pair of Lexus table lamps create a welcoming, pleasant ambience in any interior through their warm colours and tones. The Scandinavian Modern legacy of style continues to illuminate contemporary spaces with a timeless glow through the design of lighting fixtures such as these.
