This three-seater sofa recalls the Art Deco style of the 1930s with the recognizable touch of Danish Modernism. With its restrained aesthetic, this sofa creates a sense of tranquillity while the masterful sense of materials and proportions guarantee functionality and comfort. In this beautiful and distinctive sofa, simple horizontal and vertical lines, as well as surfaces are emphasized to create a clear design.

While the overall look is indeed restrained and classic, this sofa has delightful details on closer inspection. The subtle, twisted lining chords of the upholstery section the sofa visually, while the brass “shoes” on the stained beech legs in the front add a more modern, stylish touch. Apart from the visual appearance, the exquisite craftsmanship of this sofa echoes Art Deco as well. Many of the well-known Danish architects felt the urge to try their hands at “Nordic Art Deco”, even though the style’s focus on luxury and decorative elements is in its nature in opposition to the ideas behind Danish design and constitutes a creative contradiction to the period’s streamlined modernism.

Nevertheless, in combination with the unadorned style of Danish mid-century modern design, this sofa brings together the best of both styles. The original upholstery has the restrained, warm colour and texture that Danish design is renowned for. The slender, tapered legs of stained beechwood are perfectly balancing both the sofa’s structure and its soft, rounded look.
