At the core of the design of this shelving system is Modernism that brought waves of innovative solutions, materials, and creativity to Italy. At first, most Italian designers found it challenging to balance modern creativity and classical elegance, but as this model shows, they found a way to overcome that challenge.

This model is defined by its clear preoccupation with geometry. The tubular metal sides resemble ladders, allowing the customization of the shelves. The gaze first attaches to these unusual, triangular feet that - like the rest of the metal structure - are painted black, thanks to which the geometrical form stands out even more. The ladder construction has eight levels on which the three wooden shelves can be freely arranged. The blockboards are veneered and stained with an attractive pattern. The resulting organic look contrast beautifully with the metal structure. The design also allows multiple uses; due to its airy and light structure, this model can constitute a whole family of products: It can be used as a table, a bench, or as a stand for a television or books depending on the shelves’ arrangement. Regardless of where and how it is used, it beautifully emphasizes the objects placed on it. The beautifully finished details make this bench an eye-catching classic.

The Italian design language of the 1960s looks just as attractive and fresh today as it did decades ago. Elegance and strength are cleverly combined in this minimalist sculptural piece as the continuity of the structural lines “sketches the space aerially”.
