This characteristic solid wood dining table is a nod to modernist design with traditional European mid-century craftsmanship. This dark wood dining table, is on par with the designs of Axel Einar Hjorth, and Göran Malmvall, and is exceptional on its own merit. This piece was created with considerable technical expertise and holds a natural expression with its airy and organic design, which is dominated by the natural beauty of the material and the creative use of the tenon and mortise joinery. The hand carved rectangular tabletop showcases the wood’s versatile pattern, reinforcing the rustic and elemental feel. In a somewhat unusual manner, the legs have a more rounded shape compared to most of the similar contemporary pieces. In addition to the elaborate way in which they connect to the base, and as a result, the lower structure as a whole is quite decorative. The cabinetmaker’s expertise can be easily traced in the legs’ joinery technique on the so-called ‘H’ stretchers.
