This tree bark room divider from Tibet is quite the literal and visual manifestation of the expression ‘historical furniture’. With nature as its designer and manufacturer, this piece is exceptional in every single way.
With today’s standards, this room divider would be called brutalist in style thanks to its rough, heavily textured look. A better fitting word might be ‘elemental’, as this semi-fossilized tree bark is simply stunning in its natural form. The bark is the outermost layer of a tree and has the most intense surface that can tell tales about history. This huge piece of Tibetan tree bark was designated to be a room divider, and as such it creates a natural effect in any interior, bringing a piece of nature inside. As it has numerous sculptural looking holes and uneven edges, this divider doesn’t appear heavy despite its material.
