About the designer:
Johannes Aasbjerg Andersen (1921 – 2006) was born in 1921 in Struer, Denmark. In 1941, he got his Svendebrev (apprenticeship) as a cabinetmaker. By the end of the decade he started a carpentry workshop (Aasbjerg & Ørtoft) with his brother, Harry Ørtoft Andersen. In 1961 the brothers opened their first store called “Excellent Furniture Company” in Wiesbaden, Germany. In that time only pilots from the US could afford their quality furniture, but eventually they started having German customers as well. All the designs of Johannes Aasbjerg (with the exception of the Langbordet) were only sold by the company, therefore records of his works are limited. ~H.
