Danish Cabinetmaker Wall Mounted Wood Tables, Denmark 1960s (sold)
Danish Cabinetmaker Wall Mounted Wood Tables, Denmark 1960s (sold)
This pair of Danish mid-century wall mounted tables is very stylish in its elegance and outstanding wooden material. Featuring smooth lines and solid wood edges, these floating tables are of the highest quality.
Expert Danish cabinetry skills are visible throughout this pair; from the gentle curves to the dovetail joinery technique in the drawers, the work of a skilled craftsman is evident. This is further confirmed by the stamp on the back that reads “Danish Furnituremaker Control”, a title was exclusively granted to works of the highest quality. The profiled sides are rather atypical, with rounded edges and lines that are raised towards the wall. The sides are mode of separate parts thanks to which the wood’s texture differs on each side adding visual interest to the design. The tables function as shelves as well as hidden storage, since the fronts feature spacious drawers, which makes them suitable for an entrance or the bedside. The wood veneered bodies don’t appear heavy thanks to their floating look. The tables can be mounted to any wall with screws.
From Aksel Kjersgaard to Borge Mogensen, floating tables have been popular throughout the mid-century. They are practical as they don’t take up much space, and light in their appearance to complement any interior.
