WABI-SABI
COLLECTION
The culture and philosophy behind one of Japan’s most influential concepts: wabi-sabi (侘寂) is the view or thought of finding beauty in every aspect of imperfection in nature. It is about the aesthetic of things in existence, that are imperfect, impermanent, and incomplete. The concept in design denotes a more connected way of living; a lifestyle, where we are deeply connected to nature, and thus, better connected to our truest inner-selves. Characteristics of wabi-sabi aesthetics and principles include asymmetry, roughness, simplicity, intimacy, and the appreciation of both natural objects and the forces of nature.
