Distinctive in numerous ways, this floor lamp showcases the versatility that characterized the mid-century era. Surpassing the strict functionality many European designers were concerned with, this model is a whimsical representation of the innovative experimentations in lighting design during the mid-century era.
The structure recalls the great Scandinavian models both in terms of aesthetics and functionality. The luminaire consists of a thin, metal tube structure in a rusty red colour that highlights its elaborate lines. Technically being a tripod lamp, the tube is held by ‘V’-shaped feet on one end, supported by another tube with a unique horizontal end. The sharp angle created by these tubes dominates the aesthetic and shows some form of architectural knowledge in the designer’s side. On the other end of the metal tube are the swivel and socket holding the lampshade. The shade - like the legs - has brass-coloured details and is covered with small dots. The white interior is designed to better reflect light while the elongated conical shade rotates to direct it where needed.
This lamp has many qualities that make it an ideal accent lamp, serving both a functional and a purely aesthetic role. From the brass caps to the rust-coloured distinctive body, the eccentricity of this floor lamp is undeniable and its ultimate charm as well.
