This set of dining chairs by Danish designer Ole Wanscher features distinctive splayed legs and fine exposed joinery in the back. The design is honest and simple with a refined technique and materials which makes this set a true example of mid-century Danish design.

Erling Torvits Veneered Exotic Wood Bookcase for Klim Møbelfabrik, Denmark 1960s
Elegant in its simplicity, this bookcase puts the emphasis on showcasing the material through a simple, uncluttered design. As is the case with its Danish contemporaries, this model also deserts any unnecessary ornamentation in favour of the traditional mid-century design philosophy, which centres around craftsmanship and functionality.

Bruno Mathsson "Mi 759" Circular Dining Table for DUX, Sweden 1960s
Mathsson was an advocate of simplicity, beauty, and elegance in form, which also applied to the furniture he designed, including this table model “Mi 759”. His furniture was innovative in technique as well as design, similarly to his production methods. The stained beech structure consists of four tapered and cleft legs connected by a cross stretcher at the top.

Mid-Century Modern Solid Wood Side Table, Sweden 1950s
This original model from the 1950s has a very attractive and practical design that is also referred to as an end table. End tables are generally about the height of the arm of a chair or sofa and are used beside a larger piece of furniture. This table’s curved shape and generous surface area makes it a perfect side or end table, either next to a similarly curved piece, or next to a more rectangular design for contrast.

Danish Cabinetmaker Armchairs with Stained Beech Legs, Denmark 1930s
This pair from the era of Danish Art Deco is a beautiful testimony of the Scandinavian interpretation of the movement, while also showing early signs of modernism. Art Deco was a lush era in the history of design. The era flourished with the help of high-quality materials and designs, showcased by these armchairs. These armchairs show many of the movement’s characteristics, including perfect symmetry, luxury and exquisite wood.

Artisan Wood Side Table with Decorative Carved Legs, Europe 1950s
Artisan style shuns mass-produced decor in favour of handmade pieces that are one-of-a-kind. This is most evident in the hand carvings on this table’s legs and on its top. Four rings of waves are carved into each leg’s top with a decorative blue colour stain that enhances the curves. The splayed, tapered legs create a classic mid-century modern look and besides providing structural stability, they are also perfect to show off the unique pattern.

Sculptural Solid Wood Side Table with Column Base, Europe ca 1940s
With a sculptural column base this side table has an aesthetic that is historic and modern at the same time. The striking centre column is shaped out of turned solid wood, creating a grooved pattern. The centre column is resting on a circular base with a ring shaped carved motif on its side. The large top has the same ring carvings as the base and showcases the stunning grain of the wood.
