These mid-century armchairs show European cabinetmaking tradition, taking advantage of natural materials and masterfully executed constructions. The subtle decorative elements stemming from the early 20th century art movements give this pair an artistic flair while the overall impression remains rustic and functional.

The front legs and stretchers connecting them immediately stand out, with a carefully sculpted and carved shape that continues upwards to form part of the arms as well. The rest of the solid wood bodies are less decorated, leaving the carved legs and paper cord panels to be the focal points of the design. Apart from the seats and backrests, the sides of the arms are also composed of carefully woven cord in a simple, linear pattern that shows off the material’s characteristics. For the backs and armrests, larger parts of the wood were used for comfort and functionality, creating wide surfaces to show off the wood’s beautiful grain and colour variation. The stretchers on each side of the chairs are arranged at different heights, securing not only structural firmness, but also additional points of visual interest. The chairs have an opening angle, meaning they widen towards the front. Together with the airy arrangement of the individual elements, this construction creates an airy look despite the solid wood frames.
