Three Legged Oak Sling Chair, ca 1960 - 1970s (sold)
Three Legged Oak Sling Chair, ca 1960 - 1970s (sold)
This wood-framed, tripod sling chair with original canvas upholstery is one of a kind.
It is an elemental composition with every part being essential to its structure. Held together entirely by tension, the structure consists of one long and two short, wide wooden legs connected with wedges to the base. The canvas seat is held in place by small pins.
The chair has a low, relaxed seat with a reupholstered cognac leather cushion to provide ultimate comfort. The overall design and joinery recalls Japanese craftsmanship and philosophy. This model is a visually arresting piece that blends in and stands out at the same time.
