Danish design emerged as a prominent contributor to the Scandinavian design philosophy with many of the designers that are most well-known from the mid-20th century hailing from Denmark. The natural world has remained a significant influence in Scandinavian design, therefore organic shapes and handicraft were highly valued.

These early Danish models are unique and classic designs from Denmark. Appealing in its simplicity, this pair of easy chairs has a classic, organic shape that conveys a feeling of warmth and hospitality. The scalloped top of the backrests are playful and decorative, but not ostentatious. Scandinavian designers were masters of this type of décor, which is part of why their designs are still beloved. The edges of the fully upholstered bodies are rounded, while the backrests are gently enveloping to maximize the comfortable look. The tapered legs, lightly splayed in the back, are made of solid beech wood, and add to the organic look that characterize the design.

With entire areas of our homes reserved for “sitting rooms,” the value of quality seating cannot be overstated. There is hardly a better choice than mid-century Danish pieces, such as this lovely pair of easy chair. Their unquestionable quality of design, material, and craftsmanship makes them timeless additions to any space and style.
