Easy Recliner Chair in Off-White Sheepskin, Denmark 1960s (sold)

$0.00

The creation of this mid-century lounge chair revolves around the use of high-quality materials while not losing the focus of the era’s cabinetmakers on comfort. The design is focused on the aesthetics of modernism whilst employing the exquisite technique and material familiarity of the highly-skilled craftsmen.

The distinct look is the result of the brilliant pairing of materials. The cherry wood structure’s smooth lines stand out against the textural sheepskin, while also accentuating the unique look of the upholstery. The soft fibres of the lightweight, feathery sheepskin drape beautifully over this lounge chair, while the warm brown colour of the wood adds depth.

The desire to keep functionality and comfort at the core of the design is visible, especially in the gently tilted back legs that connect with the arms. The armrests have a peculiar shape, with perfectly sculpted curves to accommodate the sitter. Their smooth surface is greatly elevated next to the sheepskin, complementing each other’s unique qualities. Serving the level of comfort even further is the elongated seat that is perfect for lounging.

This lounge chair is an elegant and comfortable evidence of the mastery and artistry of the Danish cabinetmakers who defined Mid-Century Modern seating.
