Italian Modern Armchairs with Brass Legs, Italy 1960s (sold)

Italian Modern Armchairs with Brass Legs, Italy 1960s (sold)
The postwar boom years of the 1950s through to the 1960s were one of the periods of greatest influence of Italian designers. Design in the 60s paved a way to a more aesthetical approach to products as opposed to its utilitarian predecessors, resulting in exceptional pieces like these armchairs.
The idea of freedom expressed so flamboyantly in America was one of the most influential factors on Italians and therefore design as well. This American influence encouraged a more consumer and leisurely attitude towards life. The newly available production techniques and materials like plastic and metal introduced vibrant, colourful effects instead of the traditional wood and fabrics combination used before. As such, these armchairs have a sculptural, “free” look dictated by the shape of the backs and arms. They have a similar curvature that creates a welcoming, stylish appearance that preserves the elegance inherent in Italian design. The chairs are supported by tapered brass legs that are splayed for perfect stability. The patinated brass legs help to achieve an interesting, yet harmonious contrast with the bodies: the strong curves and proportions of the chairs are perfectly balanced by the thin, sleek look. From all angles, these armchairs offer beautiful textures and eye-catching forms. To enhance it even further, the bodies are upholstered in a textured fabric that accentuates the thick seats and pronounced curves.
This pair of armchairs combines Italian elegance and modern aesthetics resulting in a timeless look which is full of modern energy that will endure for generations. This is also thanks to their exceptional visual quality and uncompromising level of craftsmanship.

Art Deco, the glamorous and influential design movement that emerged in France during the early 20th century, left an indelible mark on the world of furniture design. Characterised by its bold geometric shapes, rich materials, and luxurious aesthetics, Art Deco transformed the way we perceive interior spaces. It was a testament to the fusion of form and function, and this ethos is beautifully exemplified in this pair of exquisite Art Deco armchairs.
This timeless pair of European Art Deco club chairs boasts a beautiful, almost sculptural frame with generous curves evoking the high-end craftsmanship of the movement that is steeped in old-school luxury and glamour. These armchairs are a true embodiment of the Art Deco style. Crafted with meticulous attention to detail, their geometrically inspired frames are constructed from rich, stained birchwood that exudes opulence through its rich and versatile patterns and colours. The upholstery is equally striking, featuring sumptuous velour fabric in an earthly and elegant brown tone. The streamlined, round armrests and similarly rounded backs showcase the movement's commitment to modernity. The "fauteuil de style", also known as the armchair.
