Model "E103" Art Deco Floor Lamp by Böhlmarks, Sweden 1930s (sold)

$0.00

In Sweden, Art Deco developed as Swedish Grace which was slightly more minimalist compared to the Deco works of French and American designers. It was a short yet impactful chapter of Nordic design history, pieces from this period remain timeless and highly sought after, including this stunning model "E103" floor lamp by the renowned lighting manufacturer, Böhlmarks.

Between the 1920s and 1950s, Böhlmarks was a significant player in the Swedish design movement. Like most light fixtures of the period, the design of this floor lamp assumes a more minimalist look, yet is coupled with subtle decorative elements that add to the uniqueness of the piece. Based on the pairing of patinated metal and opal glass this model can bring understated elegance to any interior. The shape of this lamp is achieved through the geometry of its elements, from the scalloped glass shade to the curved neck stem and tripod base. Furthermore, when lit, the lamp creates an exceptionally atmospheric light, giving the glass a warm colour. The tripod base is both minimalist, evoking the clean lines and geometric sensibility of the period, as well as functional, offering stability. Floor lamps such as this are a timeless example of how simplicity, combined with thoughtful craftsmanship, can result in pieces that transcend their utilitarian purpose, becoming works of art in their own right.

During the first half of the 20th century, some of Sweden’s most significant luminaires were designed and produced at Böhlmarks, including this exceptional model. Their commitment to quality craftsmanship and avant-garde design principles set them apart as pioneers in the industry.
