Swedish mid-century ceramic design is characterised by its strong connection to nature, tactile surfaces, and nuanced glazing techniques. During the mid-20th century, designers increasingly explored expressive glazes and organic silhouettes, moving away from strict functionalism toward a warmer modernism. Studios such as Tobo became known for combining sculptural forms with subtle yet complex surfaces. Lighting pieces from this period often functioned as both practical objects and decorative statements, where glaze, texture, and proportion played an equally important role as illumination.

This table lamp by Erich and Ingrid Triller for Tobo features a compact, bottle-shaped ceramic body finished in a distinctive green “harp fur” glaze. The surface displays soft tonal transitions, moving from deeper olive hues toward warmer, earthy undertones near the neck. The glaze has a slightly textured, almost velvety appearance that adds visual depth without overpowering the form. The gently tapered silhouette keeps the design grounded and stable, while the narrow neck provides a slow transition to the shade. The pleated fabric shade introduces a subtle vertical rhythm, its natural tone complementing the green base. Condition:

In good vintage condition. Wear consistent with age and use. The lamp has recently been reconditioned and rewired. The shade is a later replacement.

This lamp is compatible with an E27 fitting. Due to the age of the lamp we recommend using LED bulbs. This lamp is not UL listed.
