Harald Notini was a Swedish sculptor and designer who served as the artistic director of Arvid Böhlmarks Lampfabrik from 1916 onward. Under his leadership, Böhlmarks became an important Swedish lighting manufacturer, producing luminaires that helped define the transition from the refined Swedish Grace movement in the 1920s to the Swedish Modern decades that followed.

Model “6913” is a great example of Swedish Grace. The table lamp features a tapering, fluted shaft in nickel-plated brass. The vertical ribs catch the light to give the otherwise restrained form a remarkable sense of depth and dynamism. The body narrows towards the base before terminating in a circular foot, creating a stable foundation while maintaining the lamp's elegant silhouette. Above, a sawtooth detail provides another eye-catching detail. The design is completed by the broad conical shade, whose crisp geometry complements the taper of the column below. The interplay between the cool metallic finish and the soft texture of the shade creates a pleasing contrast, while the symmetry of the composition reflects the movement's preference for refinement and great craftsmanship. Classic without excess, model “6913” demonstrates Harald Notini's ability to create art that withstands the passage of time, from the interwar period until today.

Today, Notini's work is represented in the collections of the Nationalmuseum in Stockholm, and his lighting designs remain among the most sought-after examples of early twentieth-century Swedish design.

Condition:

In good vintage condition. Wear consistent with age and use. The lamp has recently been rewired and reconditioned. The shade was custom made by our in-house atelier. This lamp is compatible with an E14 fitting. All lighting can be converted for US usage.
