The 1950s and 60s saw brilliant Italian designers working to create furniture of the highest quality that explored truly modern shapes and innovative techniques. Designers experimented with new materials and construction methods but, crucially, they kept the elegance inherent in Italian design. The result was furniture that balanced comfort with visual weight, suited to the more informal interiors that were becoming common across Europe.

This pair of lounge chairs demonstrates this shift in Italian seating through their proportions and deeply cushioned upholstery. The chairs are defined by their wide, low form and geometric presence. The form is framed by block-like armrests that extend forward in a strong horizontal line along the seat, enforcing the structure of the design. The seat and back cushions are generously padded and tufted, adding both visual depth and a softer seating experience, while also adding a timeless look to the pair. During this period, upholstery became an essential part of the design rather than simply decor, allowing chairs to appear more inviting and expressive. In this case, the burnt orange fabric gives the chairs a warm, rich presence that highlights their geometric form. In good vintage condition. Wear consistent with age and use. The items have recently been reconditioned. Due to the nature of the materials, the items may have some marks, scratches, and discolouration. The pair has recently been reupholstered in a premium fabric.
