Art Deco seating developed around a balance between modern construction and a more decorative approach to form. While earlier movements prioritised either ornament or strict function, Art Deco combined the two through geometry, symmetry, and the use of rich materials. Upholstered armchairs from this period often feature materials such as velvet, wood, and metal, used alongside bold shapes to create contrast while maintaining cohesion.

This armchair reflects that approach through its clear form and combination of upholstery with wooden detailing. The chair has thick armrests and a plush seat that allows for a stable and comfortable sitting position. The upholstery is fitted across the frame, with the material itself contributing to both comfort and appearance. A defining feature is the vertical wooden detailing integrated into the sides of the chair. This element introduces a contrasting material while also breaking up the otherwise smooth upholstered surfaces. The vertical flute reinforce a sense of rhythm and geometry that aligns with Art Deco’s signature characteristics. At the same time, they provide a visual transition between the soft fabric and the short feet that anchor the piece. Chromatically, the burnt orange of the textile and the warm tone of the wood come together to create a cosy, comforting look.

This chair combines a functional form with careful detailing, highlighting the artistry and timeless craftsmanship of an era that valued glamour and luxury as well as usability. It will work perfectly as an accent piece in a home, offering a clear, structured presence within an interior.

This armchair is rooted in the Dutch Art Deco movement of the 1930s. It was a period defined by confidence, structure, and a belief in modern luxury. Art Deco design emerged between the wars as a response to earlier ornament-heavy styles, favouring clarity of form, strong geometry, and refined materials. Furniture from this era often balanced comfort with a distinctly architectural presence, drawing inspiration from both classical proportion and the clean lines of modern industry. This chair reflects that mindset perfectly, presenting a strong and confident silhouette that feels intentional rather than decorative.

European designers believed that a chair should always be comfortable to sit on and beautiful to look at from all sides and angles and this piece is evidence of that. This elegantly constructed model combines comfort with style. From as early as the 1920s, cabinetmakers and architects frequently collaborated to produce exceptional furniture pieces like this. The chairs’ elegant curves, precise angles and structure all testify of this partnership’s success. Thanks to the design of the base, the form appears very grounded. With straight and curving lines following each other, the model has a dynamism rooted in organicity. Unlike pieces from outside the continent, Dutch designers’ products weren’t flashy but rather well-made to fit a warm, comfortable and welcoming home.

There is a subtle interplay of texture and tone present that allows the chair to seamlessly complement a range of interior styles, from classic vintage settings to contemporary spaces that value timelessness. This armchair is a striking example of the commitment to elegance and modernity, packaged in restrained sophistication.

This upholstered armchair reflects the quiet confidence of Scandinavian design from the 1930s, a period when modern ideas were being absorbed into more traditional forms. Swedish furniture of this era often balanced restraint with comfort, favouring clear silhouettes and honest materials over ornament. Rather than chasing novelty, designers focused on proportion, usability, and longevity, creating pieces that felt modern yet familiar.

This chair sits comfortably within that moment, bridging early modernist thinking with the warmth expected in domestic interiors. The armchair is defined by its solid wooden frame, which gives structure and presence without overpowering the soft upholstery. The fabric adds depth and tactility, catching light gently and emphasizing the slightly rounded edges. Art Deco furniture reflects a moment when design shifted toward confidence, comfort, and modern living. Emerging in the interwar period, the design movement embraced strong silhouettes, rich materials, and a sense of quiet luxury that felt both progressive and grounded. Club chairs became a key expression of this approach, designed not only to look substantial but to invite use. This chair fits squarely within that tradition, balancing architectural clarity with a deeply comfortable presence.

This club chair is defined by its generous, rounded silhouette, with thickly upholstered arms that curve forward and frame the seat in a protective, almost enveloping way. The deep seat and softly padded backrest create a sense of weight and comfort, while the proportions remain carefully controlled so the form never feels heavy. Upholstered in an earthy-toned brown fabric, the surface adds depth and softness to the overall appearance, reinforcing the chair’s tactile appeal. Subtle shaping at the arms and back gives the piece a sense of flow, while the low stance and solid proportions keep it visually anchored. The short, carved wooden feet give the chair a grounded presence, ensuring sturdiness. Together, these elements create a piece that feels both intimate and confident, designed as much for long, relaxed use as for aesthetic impact.

This club chair captures the essence of Art Deco comfort, where refinement and functionality coexist. Its timeless shape and inviting feel make it as relevant today as it was when first made. A strong example of early 20th century seating, it speaks to a period when furniture was designed to be lived with and be passed down through generations.
