About the designer:
Carlo de Carli (1910 – 1999) was a prolific Italian designer, architect and academic. De Carli graduated from the Politecnico di Milano in 1934, and later worked in the studio of Gio Ponti. As a designer, he became known for his mid-century modern furniture. De Carli created most of his architectural and design work between World War II and the early 1970s. His “Model 683” chair was awarded the Compasso d’Oro in 1954, while his “Balestra” armchair earned him the Triennale di Milano Grand Prix award. De Carli worked with the leading craft and industrial design companies of the time, such as Cassina, Singer & Sons and Gubi. Carlo de Carli’s architectural furniture had a profound impact on design in the 20th century and remain sought after to this day.~H.
