Wood, in many ways, is more valuable than other materials used in furniture manufacturing because its natural grain guarantees that each piece is unique. This is especially important in the case of this set of six, as each chair is unique but together, they still form a gorgeous set.

French design, no matter the historic era, is synonymous with sophistication and elegance. The postwar years saw unprecedented creativity in French design, driven first by the aftermath of bomb damage and then by the consumer boom of the 50s and 60s. Before plastics took the place of wood in the 1970s, French furniture was still based on quality woods and exquisite fabrics used for upholstery. Visually this set predates the “mobi boom”, the explosion of design in France in the second half of the 60s and offers a more somber, organic form of understated elegance. The solid wood bodies have gentle, rounded edges broken by the vertical spindles constituting the backrests. The sometimes rough surfaces of the wood provide an interesting contrast to the premium, light bouclé upholstery, which is even more impactful when the six chairs are placed together.

Adding wooden furniture to a room will completely change its look and feel. Apart from functionality, this set offers elegance, charm and sophistication. The greatest advantage of this set, though, lies in its enduring look and appeal. The grain and tones of the genuine hardwood will bring warmth and character to any room.

In vintage condition. Wear consistent with age and use. Small scratches and marks on the wood. The chairs of the set have been reupholstered recently in a premium bouclé fabric.
