"There is no style like art deco that embraces both the figurative and the abstract, the feminine and the masculine, the monumenta, the stringent and the opulent, the functional and the unnecessary. Art deco is a seducer that, with its cool language, will generously enrich our lives with beauty".

This timeless pair of Swedish Art Deco lounge chairs has a beautiful, almost sculptural form that evokes the high-end craftsmanship of the movement that’s steeped in old-school luxury and glamour. Art Deco was characterized by sleekness, opulence, and geometry, often prioritizing rich colours and luxe fabrics. These characteristics are also seen here, especially in the unique arms. Each chair features a reclined rectangular back over a deep seat along with elegantly curved armrests framed by the elm wood. The short legs allow the thick and cosy design to stand out, enhancing the lounging experience. The thick seat cushions and gently bent backs further contribute to the comfort and cosiness. Still, the arms are in the focus of the design, with a highly distinctive shape and form in the front. The dark-toned upholstery complements the structure’s individuality. The wood is especially appealing, which is why it is also showcased on the arm; its grain and colour makes it a coveted, yet still rare material in Scandinavian seating. Elm wood has advantages beyond its aesthetic quality: its interlocked grain adds to its toughness and makes it more resistant to splitting.

Inspired by the Swedish ‘’Funkis design” or Functionalist style developed in the early 20th century, these chairs illustrate the perfect alliance of geometry and function combined with the luxurious look and materials of Art Deco. Resting on square front legs and slightly splayed hind legs, this pair of Swedish lounge chairs exudes the sophistication and opulence of the Art Deco style. They are sure to become the focal point of any space.
