Joaquim Tenreiro Floor Lamp, Brazil 1960s (sold)

Joaquim Tenreiro Floor Lamp, Brazil 1960s (sold)

$0.00

Extremely rare standing floor lamp by Joaquim Tenreiro. The lamp has a a slender, elegant appearance with two light sources covered by acryl cones that give a pleasant soft light. Tenreiro, who did not design many lamps, shows all his key characteristics here; The use of beautiful Brazilian wood, balanced shaping and lining and execution with great attention to detail.

This lamp comes from the house of a coffee trader in Rio de Janeiro, which was decorated by Tenreiro in the 60's. The lamp is similar to the square lamp made for the Bloch Editores building in Rio de Janeiro, except this version is round.

This is the only copy known to date.

In very good condition. One part of the acrylic has possibly been replaced, but hard to judge. Partly re-wired for safety.
