This floor lamp is a refined example of Nordic Art Deco lighting design. Designed in a period when Scandinavian designers interpreted the international Art Deco movement through a more restrained and functional lens. While continental Art Deco often emphasized luxury and ornament, Nordic versions favoured balance, proportion, and craftsmanship. The result was a quieter elegance that merged decorative influence with early modernist ideals, producing lighting designs that felt architectural yet approachable.

The lamp is defined by its tall, slender profile and elegant, curved tripod base, which gives the piece both visual lightness and structural stability. Three gently rounded legs extend outward towards the floor, forming a sculptural foundation that highlights the metal work  while maintaining a clean, modern outline. The vertical stem rises softly, emphasizing height and verticality. At the top, the angled arm supports a tapered fabric shade while mirroring the curved base, and softening the stem’s linear construction. This subtle detail introduces movement and allows the light to be directed naturally into the surrounding space. The contrast between the dark metal structure and the light textile shade creates visual depth, while the restrained use of materials reflects the period’s focus on harmony rather than excess. Every element feels intentional, from the proportional spacing of the legs to the gentle transition between metal fittings and fabric.

Today, this floor lamp stands as both a functional light source and a sculptural interior object. Its timeless form allows it to integrate effortlessly into modern, mid-century, and eclectic settings alike. Whether placed beside a lounge chair or used to anchor a reading corner, it delivers warm ambient light while maintaining a strong visual presence.

Condition:

In good vintage condition. Wear consistent with age and use. The lamp has recently been rewired and reconditioned. The shade was custom-made by our in-house atelier. Due to the nature and age of the materials, the lamp may have marks, scratches, and discolouration.
