With their origins in a small workshop and cellar in Aarhus in 1904, Fog & Mørup grew their reputation gradually, and by the 1930s was one of the most well-known manufacturers of Denmark. Nowadays sought after by collectors for their sleek and sculptural lamps, their model “Lille Kongelys” is a breath of fresh air as it introduces a dash of Scandinavian Modernist ingenuity into a space.
The model, just as stylish as it is elegant, carries the charm of its name, “Lille Kongelys” meaning the king’s little light, giving it a noble sophistication. Made out of solid brass, the lamp carries a beautiful warm hue lingering through its body. The thin, circular base provides stable grounding, with the stem slightly thicker at the bottom then gracefully tapering with a curved edge. The true crown of the lamp is the richly textured shade, composed of a delicate combination of fabric and brass. The same light colour and metallic shine is highlighted further at the top of the shade with a distinctive triangular brass dome. The perfect balance of proportions, delicate colours, as well as the soft glow of light coming from under the wide opening of the umbrella shade creates a piece that brings harmony to any interior.
The fusion of style, craftsmanship and functionality is remarkably represented in the structure of this model, making it a piece of enduring beauty in the home.
