Dutch modern armchair by Jan den Drijver for furniture store "De Stijl" in The Hague, the Netherlands. Designed in 1948. Produced circa 1950s.
This unique Dutch modern armchair has a distinctive shape with a low seat and a high backrest inclined just in the right angle to offer a comfortable sitting position. A curved line from the solid wooden frame follows in the armrests and the legs. The backrest of the chair is made of nine horizontal wooden spindles. The seat consists of a cushion framed by the curved lines on the side of the chair. The cushion of the back is elegantly tied to the spindles of the backrest to ensure it stays in position.
Condition:
In good vintage condition. Wear consistent with age and use. Item has some marks and scratches. Recently re-upholstered in premium Belgian linen fabric.
