Edvard and Tove Kindt-Larsen lounge chair (attr), Denmark 1960s
This one of a kind chair has a striking resemblance to the ‘model 1511–1’ sofa by Tove and Evard Kindt-Larsen, designed and produced in Denmark 1956. With it’s similar lining and construction we suspect that the work is most likely a prototype, or part of a very small so far unknown production, presumably also made by Thorald Madsen Cabinetmakers. However an ironclad provenance at this moment has not been found.
The design of this easy chair is nicely balanced and modest. The sculptural V-shaped teak legs create a pleasant contrast with the soft lines of the seating. The armrests run smoothly over into the large seat, while the backrest becomes narrower before rising up. The back legs tilt slightly forward giving the chair a bit of a dynamic sense. The seat and back have been reupholstered with a light wool.
